THE ACTS
of the Apostles
Author:
Date:
Probably sometime between 60 and 63 AD.
Themes:
The early history of Christ’s Church, the spread of the Gospel of Christ in the first thirty years after His death and resurrection from the dead, Christ’s continuing work on earth after His ascension into heaven. A key verse is Acts 1:8. The name “Acts of the Apostles” was not given by Luke to this book. This name was given to it later on by others. A title that would have been more descriptive of the reality is “The Acts of God’s Spirit through the Apostles” or “The Continuing Acts of Christ through His Apostles”.
